Path basics

TVPaint effects may take position values into account. Sets of position values are called Paths.

When an effect authorizes the use of a path(s) for one or several of its parameters a Tools drop down menu will be displayed in its panel.

This drop down menu allows you to:

  • Use the Pixel Tracker to create a path.
  • Follow the movement of a Stroke on your Canvas and create a path out of it (Path Recorder).
  • The third option, Copy From Stack List allows you to reuse a path you have already created previously in your effects stack and use it with the current parameters.
  • Rename, save paths through the Path Manager.
  • Save the current path under a name of your choice for later use in the Bin (Save To Bin).
  • Reuse a path you have saved in the Bin through the Copy From Path Bin item.
  • Replace the position values for the current keyframe with those of the center of the image through the Center option.
  • Adjust a Path's position values always have the same distance between 2 adjacent points trhough the Constant Speed item.
  • Reset all of your current effect's keyframes.
