Interface overview

By default TVPaint 12 will open in a single-window view. However, its interface is completely modular, which means you can pop different internal windows out to organize your workspace as you wish.

The software's interface can be divided into 9 different sections highlighted by the red dots on the image below. Each section is briefly described under the aforementioned image. You can also click on the red dots to learn more about a specific section.

  1. The Menu Bar allows you to perform general actions and display various windows through the File, Edit, Project, Clip, Layer, Image, Effects, View, Windows, Custom Panels and Help items. Additional shortcut icons are also present under the menu's textual items in order to perform common actions or display / hide useful windows.

  2. The Left Drawer can be used as a container for various panels. It holds TVPaint's Basic Drawing Panels by default. It can be hidden when not used or locked so it always stays visible.

  3. The Layer Stack regroups your project's layers. It features a number of icon shortcuts to perform quick actions to manage your layers.

  4. The Info Bar displays various information and gives you access to TVPaint's playback (Proxy) performance settings.

  5. The Playback Bar allows you to set your playback options and shift the playhead on the Timeline to specific locations.

  6. The Canvas is your drawing zone. You will only be able to draw inside this area.

  7. The Timeline is where your animation frames will be displayed.

  8. The Right Drawer can also be used as a container for various panels. It can be hidden when not used if needed.

  9. The Rooms drop-down menu allows you to switch between different panel layouts (workspaces) that you can customize.
