First Clip and first drawing

You can access TVPaint Animation's storyboard features by clicking on the Project tab above the Layer Stack. You should then see a new view in place of the regular Timeline:

An empty Clip

This white rectangle is called a Clip. A Clip is composed of Layers and Images / Instances and is always included in a Scene (in our example above, we have a Scene with a single Clip: both elements cannot be differentiated).

If you double-click on your Clip, you will return to the Timeline, where you will be able to manage the Clip's Layers and Instances:

Clip to Timeline

Click back on the Project tab and draw something on the Canvas. You will see then the same drawing appear on the Clip's thumbnail:

If you double-click once more on the Clip thumbnail, you will then see the Clip's Layer holding an Instance of your drawing:

The updated Timeline

You have just drawn your storyboard's first image!
