Playback Bar
The Playback Bar allows you to control the way you will be able to preview your animation. It can be devided into three sections:
The first one regroups playback options. The second , playback controls and the third one , a shortcut relating to the Timeline:
Here are what each one of the first section shortcut icons do, from left to right:
- The speaker icon allows you to playback your animation with the sound on or muted.
- The loop play setting allows you to either loop the playback of your animation (by default) or play it back only once when playback is triggered.
- The frame icon allows you to set the playback view to the Camera View. It is disabled by default.
- The fps drop down menu lets you choose between different frame rates. However, this setting will only affect the playback's frame rate and not your project's in case you export it.
- Click, hold and move on the hand icon to move the playhead smoothly across the Timeline. The playhead will then get back to its original position on the Timeline.
The second section of the Playback Bar is made of playback controls. From left to right:
- Start the playback by clicking on the play icon.
- Stop the playback by clicking on the stop icon.
- Rewind the playhead to the first frame of the selected Layer.
- Fast forward the playhead to the last frame of the selected Layer.
- Rewind the playhead to the previous Instance.
- Fast forward the playhead to the next Instance.
- Rewind the playhead to the previous frame.
- Fast forward the playhead to the next frame.
The third of the bar is made of a single icon, allowing you to recenter the Timeline's view on the playhead.
The last section activates Loop Mode on the Timeline, which allows you to loop between two selected sections.
Shift-click on the top of the Timeline to select a range of frames (Loop Mode will then turn on automatically):
If a range has been selected and Loop Mode is on:
- Playback will loop between the selection's start and end frames.
- Hitting the Next Instance shortcut on the selection's last frame will take you back on the selection's first frame, which may be useful in tweaked straight ahead animation workflows.
Turning Loop Mode off greys out the Loop Mode button and the previous selection. Both playback and Instance navigation should go back to normal as well.
The last selection will be used when you turn Loop Mode back on by clicking on its dedicated button instead of making a new selection.
