Default brushes

The Tool Panel contains TVPaint's default brushes. Those are the most basic brushes you may use in the software:

Here is a quick description of those (from top to bottom and from left to right):

  1. The Pen Brush: TVPaint's most basic brush. It is fountain pen like and allows to draw clean lines easily.
  2. The Pencil Brush: a basic charcoal pencil. Great for drawing roughs.
  3. The Eraser: to quickly erase parts of a drawing.
  4. The Mechanical Pen: draws only one pixel at a time. It can be especially useful if you are doing pixel art.
  5. The Oil Brush: aims to mimick oil paint.
  6. The Air Brush: aims to mimick air brush kits.
  7. The Wet Brush: a basic wet paint brush.
  8. The Special Brush: a brush you can use to smear, shift, mix (etc.) your image's pixels. You can learn more about the special brush in the Drawing Modes section of the manual.
  9. The Text Brush: can be used to add letters or full sentences to your animations. You can also use it as a regular brush.
  10. The Custom Brush icon: not a single brush per se. This brush will be selected whenever you will be using a Custom Brush or one of the Right Drawer Brush Panels' brushes.

Learning how to use TVPaint's brush engine will also allow you to create more elaborate Custom Brushes.
